About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair within the Food and Beverage Department in London, the Assistant Head Sommelier will play an integral part in facilitating an experience like London has never known. Your leadership and expertise will ensure the spectacular cuisine is perfectly accented and greatly enhanced throughout all four of our venues plus In-Room Dining. The Assistant Head Sommelier reports to the Head Sommelier.
As Assistant Head Sommelier, you will responsible for the following duties:
- Being able to retain a high level of product knowledge relating to Akira Back’s intricate food menus.
- Being comfortable communicating professionally and charismatically to the aesthete of the world wine.
- Being able to delegate properly and efficiently manage the sommelier team in high volume venues catering to a high profile clientele.
- Assisting with monthly inventories.
- Assisting in training FOH staff on wine and beverage knowledge.
- Ensuring that all beverages are correctly charged
- Ensuring that all beverages are stored securely.
As Assistant Head Sommelier, we expect from you:
As an Assistant Head Sommelier, you will be working on a rotating shift basis, Monday to Sunday, 40 hours a week. Shift patterns will vary from day and evening shifts (including weekends and bank holidays), so flexibility is required where applicable.
