The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two of the UK's most popular heritage railways, located in the heart of picturesque Snowdonia. Tan y Bwlch Station Tea Room is our refreshment room situated at the stunning Tan y Bwlch Station in the heart of the National Park.
We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated team of front of house staff working in Tan y Bwlch Station Tea Room, Maentwrog.
We can offer you:
- National Living / Minimum Wage for age
- Seasonal contract from 24th March to 31st October 2025
- Variable hours; approx. 2 – 3 days per week with additional hours available during peak season

Key duties will include serving customers, handling money, clearing tables and assisting with kitchen duties. The successful candidate may also work at Spooner’s in Porthmadog, providing variety and the opportunity to develop your skills. Experience of working in a café or restaurant would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.
The ideal candidate will be flexible and able to work shifts on weekdays and weekends. Occasional evening working may be required. Daily hours may be subject to seasonal variance, core hours 10am to 4pm. Due to the isolated location of the station candidates must have access to private transport for getting to and from work.
Core Skills:
- Experience in a Front of House role
- Team player
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work cleanly and tidily
- A basic knowledge and understanding of food and kitchen hygiene is desirable
This is a predominantly Welsh speaking area and the Company operates a bilingual policy. The ability to converse in Welsh is therefore desirable for these posts, but not essential. Knowledge of locations on the Railways and their use by visitors and of the surrounding area would be an advantage.
