Wine Maker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Furleigh Estate is a vineyard and winery established in 2005 and based in Salway Ash, near Bridport.  We are a small, family business with global ambitions.  We have a small winery team producing sparkling and still wines.

 

We are looking for a winemaker to join us on a 12-month contract to cover for maternity leave.

Details of the role include:

  • Organising winery operations, including at harvest
  • Ensuring proper winemaking records are prepared and maintained
  • Preparing wines for bottling to fixed timescales
  • Liaising with marketing team
  • Meeting and tasting with clients
  • Carrying out basic lab analyses
  • All post-production operations (labelling, loading riddling crates, dosing, etc)
  • Equipment cleaning and maintenance
  • Disgorging and dosage trials
  • Blending and tasting
  • Monitoring stocks of wine and dry goods

 

The right candidate will have:

  • Several years’ experience as a winemaker or winemaking assistant.
  • Experience in the production of traditional method sparkling wine production
  • The ability to work and communicate under pressure within a team
  •  A passion for wine production
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • A driving licence
  • The ability to climb ladders and lift up to 25kg
  • Experience of carrying out lab analyses
  • Competence using Excel
  • Competent ability on a forklift truck
  • The right to work in the UK

Standard hours are Monday to Friday 39 hours per week.  Flexibility is required from time to time, particularly at harvest and at times of bottling.

 

Salary competitive depending on experience.
