Overview
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven full-time salesperson / admin to join our team. The hours are 4 ½ days a week, Tuesday to Friday and Saturday mornings, with the occasional evenings to host and sell at wine events.
As a salesperson, you will be responsible for promoting and selling our products or services to potential trade customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, meeting sales targets, has a keen interest and knowledge of wine and contributing to the growth of our company. You will also need to be flexible sometimes as being a small company, this is needed at times.
About us
We are a medium sized family run business established in 1979 based in Coggeshall near Colchester and have a vast portfolio of exclusively imported small producers’ wines exclusive to the UK that we sell to the trade and public. We have always been particular about quality and are known throughout East Anglia as providing the best wines money can buy.
Responsibilities
- Visit current clients and make sure they are satisfied with our wines and service.
- Present and demonstrate our products or services to prospective clients.
- Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Negotiate and close sales deals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Meet or exceed sales targets on a regular basis.
- Travel a minimum of 2 days a week to and from potential/existing accounts.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitors’ products.
- Complete admin spreadsheets and documents for each new account and/or potential accounts, along with general office work, order processing etc.
- Organise and host wine tastings in house-at Peter Watts Wines and at customer venues.
- Ability to adapt. Being a smaller business, you may have to help with other responsibilities at times like unloading wine, answering phones and general helping in the office when not out on the road.
- Sell to the public in our shop and by phone.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sales or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A good knowledge of wine. WSET level 2 or higher preferred but not essential.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.
- Good organisation and ability to book meetings and collate leads.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Results-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Over the age of 18.
- Hold a full UK driving licence is required.
- Occasional driving of our van for delivering.
