Vintage Cellar Hands 2024
(Wine Jobs:
Vineyards & Cellars )
Contract
Devon,
England
Lyme Bay Winery are now recruiting for motivated and experienced Cellar Hands for the upcoming 2024 vintage.
With its roots in cider production, Lyme Bay has transformed over the years to become one of England's leading producers of quality wines. We work with predominantly chardonnay, pinot noir, and bacchus to create a range of award winning still and sparkling wines.
At Lyme Bay we like to do things a little differently. We are one of few wineries that work with growers all over the country to get the best fruit, rather than relying on a single vineyard. That way we have access to different varietals, grown on different soils, in different microclimates; allowing us to make the best wines, from the best grapes, from the best vineyards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grape processing: helping the team operate the crush pad and loading and unloading presses
- Juice and wine movements
- Inoculating ferments and ferment monitoring
- Basic lab work: testing for sugars, acids, ABV etc. (previous lab experience is desirable)
- Keeping cellar and equipment clean and tidy
- Must be comfortable working at height and carrying up to 25kg
- Ability to work independently and with the team
- Valid UK forklift licence is a bonus but not essential
The roles will start mid September for up to 12 weeks, though there is the chance for a permanent role for the right candidate.
Shifts will be 12 hours 6 days a week during the height of harvest.
Competitive rates of pay.
Accomodation is provided. Help with transport can be given if needed.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
