Producing world-class wine is at the centre of everything we do at Digby Fine English. We are seeking a new member of our team to continue building the success of Digby’s English sparkling wine.                                                   

As Digby’s Winery Operative, you will:

The Winery Operative is a permanent role based on-site at our brand new, state-of-the-art winery facility in Madehurst, West Sussex. The role primarily involves work throughout the year carrying out key winemaking tasks associated with the later stages of sparkling wine production, e.g. loading and unloading of stillages and riddling cages; disgorging; labelling; order fulfilment; stock control; and cleaning of the site/facilities. The role reports to Digby’s Production Manager, Daan Tant.

Responsibilities: 

·       Loading and unloading of riddling cages and stillages

·       Disgorging of sparkling wine

·       Labelling and packaging of sparkling wine

·       Preparing mixed pallets of wine for trade fulfilment orders, with a view to encompass direct to consumer dispatch in 2023

·       Assisting with stock control and reconciliations

·       Assisting with record keeping of goods received, goods despatched, and work orders performed

·       Shared responsibilities for cleaning equipment and facilities

·       Occasional duties arising, for example

o   Assisting Head of Wine Operations with other matters including production planning, vineyard management, winery and packaging supply procurement, etc.

o   Assisting Tasting Room team with sales events e.g. for external festivals

o   Customer service and communications as it pertains to fulfilment of orders

Key Skills:

·       Focus on achieving world-class quality at all stages of Digby’s operations

·       Forklift certification required

·       Prior winery experience helpful but not required

·       Willingness to learn on the job

·       Ability to lift and handle cases of wine up to 22 kg

·       A positive attitude and teamwork as a key member of a small winery team

·       Initiative to perform tasks and improve processes while performing duties with the team or working alone

·       Detail oriented and able to carefully track and monitor our operations

·       Clean UK driving licence and access to own vehicle essential

 

Working Hours Permanent, full-time role

·    Monday to Friday 8:00 – 4:30, with a half hour for lunch

·    Note: Digby would consider part-time applicants for this role
