About Us
Wayfarer Wines is a small, premium English Still Wine producer based in Woodchurch Kent. We are expanding the team and will be opening a pop up shop at Folkestone Harbour Marketplace from 1st April 2025 to 30th September 2025. We are looking for a Sales Assistant to staff the shop.
Applicants need to be available to work weekend days of Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30- 6pm until September.
About the role
You will be the face of Wayfarer Wines for market customers, so you’ll have the confidence, people skills and knowledge to be an engaging and friendly team member. Based at Folkestone Harbour Arm Marketplace, you will engage passers by, be knowledgeable about our product range & the English wine industry. You will have good cash handling skills, and be comfortable with the challenge 25 alcohol sales policy.
Your duties would include:
· Be responsible for ensuring the following of opening and closing procedures and cleaning of all hospitality spaces.
· Advising customers on wine sales tailoring recommendations to the needs of different individuals
· Be responsible for ensuring that all the shop is clean and tidy and fully stocked at all times
· Promotion of our wines, acting as an ambassador for Wayfarer Wines
· Promotion of our vineyard tours and events
About you
You will have experience in the hospitality or retail sectors, ensuring the very best customer experience whilst maintaining a cool head at busy times. You’ll be someone who keeps a keen eye on the rapidly developing English Wine scene in Kent, Sussex, and beyond. You will have the practical experience to hit the ground running for our busy spring/summer season. This role is all about having a warm and welcoming attitude to customers, so we need someone who is immediately engaging, with exceptional people skills and a focus on excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be representing the Wayfarer wines brand and team, and will be key member of staff.
Your skills and experience will include:
· Confidence in spending time with customers
· Wine knowledge and an enthusiasm to learn about wine is preferable although training can be given
· Ability to deliver exceptional customer service
· Exceptional cleanliness standards
· Experience within food and wine is preferable
· Able to work independently using own initiative
· Friendly, helpful and confident with an engaging personality
· Pay dependant on experience
