Position Overview
The Head of Sales will be primarily responsible for leading Hattingley Valley’s UK sales strategy and with time supporting the Sales and Marketing Director on selected international export markets. This role requires a dynamic, results-oriented professional with a strong background in premium wines, proven expertise in sales leadership, and an entrepreneurial approach to market expansion. The Head of Sales will be pivotal in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, managing and expanding distributor relationships as well as increasing brand visibility.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the UK market, across all trade channels.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing Director and senior leadership to align sales strategies with the company’s broader vision, brand values, and financial goals.
- Support Sales and Marketing Director on targeted export markets, focusing on brand positioning, pricing strategies, and growth opportunities in collaboration with international partners.
Sales Execution and Account Management
- Lead the UK sales team of 2, setting targets, providing mentorship, and driving performance to exceed revenue and market growth objectives.
- Build and nurture key relationships with distributors, retailers, and on-trade partners, ensuring strong brand representation and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activities, and sales performance, adapting strategies to optimize market penetration and brand loyalty.
- Manage relationships with international distributors, supporting Hattingley Valley’s international presence through well-coordinated market entry strategies and promotional activities.
Marketing and Brand Support
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and implement campaigns, product launches, and trade customer engagement initiatives.
- Represent Hattingley Valley Wines at trade events, tastings, and promotional events to build brand presence and establish new business connections.
- Provide feedback on customer preferences, market shifts, and product performance to the winemaking and product development teams, ensuring alignment with customer and market needs.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Extensive experience in sales within the wine or premium beverage industry, with a strong track record of success in the UK market and some knowledge of export dynamics.
- Leadership: Proven experience managing and motivating sales teams, setting targets, and achieving ambitious growth objectives.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UK wine market, including key distribution channels, customer segments, and competitor landscape. Some familiarity with international wine markets is beneficial but not essential.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Strong business acumen and a proactive approach to identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities.
