Nestled in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Highweald Estate is a premium English wine producer known for its award-winning wines and exceptional visitor experiences. Our cellar door is open Friday to Sunday, offering wine tastings, vineyard tours, and exclusive events.
We are seeking Hospitality staff to lead our visitor experience, ensuring that every guest enjoys a seamless, welcoming, and memorable visit.
Role Overview
Hospitality Hosts execute the day-to-day operations of the cellar door, managing wine tastings, retail sales, and guest experiences. As part of a small-team runnning events, and ensuring that every visitor receives first-class service. This role requires customer-focus with a passion for hospitality and wine, strong organizational skills, and the ability to create an inviting and engaging atmosphere for guests.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Wine Tastings
- Deliver engaging and informative wine tastings that reflect Highweald’s premium brand.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a warm and professional atmosphere.
- Educate visitors on Highweald’s wines, vineyard, and winemaking philosophy.
Cellar Door Operations
- Take reservations, walk-ins, and group bookings, ensuring smooth service.
- Manage point-of-sale transactions and maintain accurate sales records.
- Ensure the tasting room and retail area are well-presented and stocked.
Event Execution
- Deliver private tastings, corporate events, and vineyard experiences.
- Work with the marketing team to promote events and wine tourism initiatives.
- Ensure all events run smoothly, from setup to guest interaction and follow-up.
Retail & Sales
- Maximize wine and merchandise sales through excellent customer interaction.
- Maintain stock levels, merchandising, and product displays.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential Skills:
- Outstanding customer service skills with a warm, engaging personality.
- Team player
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Sales and retail experience in a hospitality or wine-related setting.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- A passion for wine and hospitality.
- Clean, full driving license.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Prior experience in hospitality, wine tourism, or luxury guest services.
- Wine knowledge – WSET Level 2 or willingness to obtain.
- Knowledge of POS systems, reservation management, and sales reporting.
- A background in food and beverage management is a plus.
