As part of the strategic growth plan, Hackstons are opening a new luxury spirit and wine store in summer 2024, and are now recruiting for an experienced, ambitious and charismatic Assistant Retail Manager. Located in the highly affluent area of Knightsbridge, London, the retail store will become home to a range of premium and interesting spirits, fine wines and liqueurs. Whisky casks are a mainstay of the Hackstons business, and luxurious, collectable whiskies will be a major element to the portfolio.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager to join our team at our luxury spirit and wine store in Central London. Working closely with the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the store while delivering exceptional customer service and promoting our premium range of single malt whiskies, spirits, fine wines, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the General Manager in recruiting, training, leading and managing a high-performing team dedicated to delivering unrivalled customer service.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with retail clients by offering exceptional levels of service and product knowledge.
- Assist in the execution of the annual marketing calendar, including in-store tastings, customer events, and promotions across all channels.
- Collaborate with the General Manager in managing stock levels, ordering inventory, and ensuring accurate stock management.
- Contribute to identifying areas for growth and commercial opportunities within the business, providing insights and recommendations.
- Work closely with the Buying Manager to support relationships with wine and suppliers.
- Assist in maintaining a comprehensive view of current industry trends and competitor activities to inform business strategies.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring adherence to exceptional standards of housekeeping on and off the shop floor.
Key Qualifications:
- WSET Level 3 Wine and/or WSET Level 3 Spirits certification or equivalent or above, with a strong knowledge base in the whisky and/or fine wine sector.
- Luxury hotel bar management or sommelier experience is also very desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in premium retail management within the wine and spirit or luxury hotel industry.
- Customer-focused mindset with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a passion for fine wines, champagne, spirits, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Additional Requirements:
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
