MANAGER – MARYLEBONE ENOTECA & STORE
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Philglas & Swiggot is looking to recruit an experienced full-time Store & Enoteca Manager with a strong background in premium wine retail, corporate & private sales and additional hospitality experience to run its wine store & Enoteca in New Quebec Street, Marylebone.
Since revamping this store a few years ago it has gone from strength to strength, becoming well known in the local area for a great place to drink quality wines in a relaxed atmosphere. We are seeking an individual who can capitalise on the solid foundations laid and take our Enoteca to the next level. Alongside this, we are looking for a candidate who will come with ideas, experience and contacts to develop and grow the existing private and corporate clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and driven candidate with a focus on the many small details that go into sales success.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong initiative with a desire to help grow the Marylebone store as part of a dynamic team. You will also have excellent fine wine knowledge and extensive experience working in the London retail or on-trade environment. You will have the opportunity to lead and develop an experienced and talented team with access to some of the world’s best wines and discerning customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the smooth running of the Enoteca and Store.
- Ensure the store achieves its monthly sales targets and inventory levels.
- Exceed customer expectations by ascertaining their needs using; open questions, their purchase history, building relationships, offering tastings and actively listening.
- Oversee all aspects of the Enoteca including menu development, supplier management, standards, H&S, cost control and service. Successful cross-trading between the store and the enoteca is central to the company’s strategy.
- Organising & hosting an exciting program of events utilising internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the relationship and communication with existing corporate partners whilst building new relationships.
- Develop connections with the local community to ensure the store is at the forefront of people’s minds in the area.
- Collaborate with the marketing team for our social media, email offers and blog posts.
- Ensuring the presentation in the store is always of the highest standard.
- Create a positive work environment and motivate staff to gain the most out of them.
- Provide a strong level of leadership and communication.
- Develop a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of our product range and service offering and pass this on to the wider team.
- Ability to work flexible hours both during the day and on weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
- Educated to A Level (or equivalent) or above.
- Experience managing a premium wine retail store.
- Experience managing within the hospitality sector.
- A comprehensive and relevant network of potential future customers.
- IT skills: POS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and Online.
- Extensive Wine knowledge: WSET Diploma or equivalent.

PROBATION & REMUNERATION
The Marylebone Store & Enoteca Manager role will be offered on a permanent full-time based on a 40-hour work week.
The annual remuneration will be competitively matched with commensurate experience. Service charge and a company bonus structure will also apply.
