Recently voted Decanter’s Magazine’s London Wine Store of the Year, Philglas & Swiggot was founded in 1991 on Northcote Road in Battersea. Over the next 30 years, it expanded to add a store in Marylebone and became one of London’s most loved independent wine merchants. We are currently looking to recruit experienced staff with an interest in wine retail and hybrid service to assist in operation across both of our stores.
Here at Philglas & Swiggot wine is the hero. We are looking for dynamic individuals that are passionate about wine, food and delivering exceptional service. You will be interacting with guests and involved in all aspects of a busy hybrid retail wine business including store sales, drink-in hospitality service, tasting events and developing private client fine wine sales.
As part of the team, the right candidate should be proactive, quick-thinking and flexible with excellent client-facing sales skills. Previous experience in a busy retail or restaurant environment is highly desirable. A well-developed sales instinct and commercial awareness to grow general sales and private client fine wine opportunities are essential.
Full and Part Time positions are available with extensive wine training. We are a London Living Wage employer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Delivering Great Customer Service and processing sales
- Stock management
- Assisting with planning and hosting events
- Opening and Closing duties
- Logistics & fulfilment planning to maximize efficiencies
- Managing order completion & customer communication via our fulfilment platform
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Educated to A Level (or equivalent) or above
- WSET Level 2 or equivalent experience and knowledge
- Experience working in a retail or service environment
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to influence and sell
- Ability to work on their own and within a small team
- A positive “can do” attitude and self-motivated
- Punctual and dedicated
