Who are we?
Nottinghamshire’s original wine family est. 1975. Eglantine Winery and Vineyard (planted 1979) and Hanwell Wine Estate (planted 2012) are both owned by the Skuriat family, pioneers in English wine. The story began when Tony Skuriat discovered a single vine in a dilapidated greenhouse at the couple’s first home, this vine sparked a life-long obsession which led him to research, innovate and drive change in the fledgling UK wine industry. Tony’s most notable wine ‘North Star’ has won multiple international awards and featured as the dessert wine at the recent Coronation Banquet at the Ritz, Piccadilly London.

The Role
An exciting opportunity to join a pioneering family wine business. As the business evolves this role will too.
As Assistant Winemaker you will work in the winery to craft delicious wines and in the vineyard with the existing team to nurture the best grapes. You should be focused on quality and understand wine regulations, hygiene and health and safety.
You will be responsible for the weekly tasks at the winery and for co-ordinating activities with the vineyard team. In the winery this will include harvest, machinery, wine testing, filtering, the riddling and disgorging schedule.
Our business is agile and adaptive, so there may be the opportunity to work in other aspects, like sales, marketing, tourism and business development depending on your aspirations.
This is an ideal role if you wish to gain wine making expertise under the tuition of a long established and respected wine family.
The ideal candidate will be competent in basic wine making tasks including filtering, lab work, disgorging and associated hygiene.
Essential Skills
• Solid wine making basic skills with experience.
• Enthusiasm to learn and grow.
• Attention to detail, especially hygiene.
• English language, IT literate, excellent communicator and good with numbers.
• Team player, who is equally self-motivated when working alone.
• Forklift licence would be an advantage. Training available to the right candidate.
• Driving licence and own transport essential.
• Right to work in the UK
Salary: Based on experience and working hours to be agreed. Training is available and professional development expected.
Hours: This role is super flexible, part-to-full time, you may choose to work between 20-38 hours per week, hours to be agreed with candidate. Hybrid home working encouraged for desk based activities
