Wine Retail Job Overview
This permanent part time position is a great opportunity to join the wine world and to increase your wine sales skills and wine knowledge at the same time. Working in our wine merchants store, the applicant would benefit from previous retail experience but this does not necessarily need to have been in the wine trade.
You will need to be confident, physically fit, have a good sense of humour and be happy to work alone. Being in charge of a wine shop is a great job!
As you become immersed in the wine world, there will be opportunities to attend and run customer tasting events, taste wines as part of our selection process and to attend annual Trade wine events on behalf of the company.
Mainly weekend work with some weekday hours possible too.
Responsibilities
- To man the till point and be the smiling welcoming face to our wine shop.
- Confidently talk to members of the public and help them with their purchases.
- Handle incoming calls with excellent phone etiquette.
- Over time and some training, to be able to talk with customers and help with wine/spirits/beer recommendations.
- Use a modern EPOS Till system to manage and record daily sales.
- Move/Lift cases of wine and bottles of wine to ensure the shop remains fully stocked.
- Maintain a clean and well presented shopping environment Skills
- Strong communication skills and confidence in talking with the public.
- Recent retail experience would be an advantage.
- Basic maths skills for handling financial till point sales.
- A positive happy can do attitude.
- Excellent time keeping.
- The ability to think on your feet and to handle a retail shop environment alone.
