We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a full-time manager at our shop in Oxfordshire for someone positive, enthusiastic and with a passion for wine and local produce.
You will be working alongside the business owner and a small team of sales assistants.
About us
Eynsham Cellars is a small independent wine merchant with a shop in Eynsham, 5 miles west of Oxford. Established in 2010, it has grown from a high street shop catering for the local walk-in trade, to an established regional business with wholesale and online customers. We have a passion for great wine which isn’t available in Supermarkets and for small local beer and spirit producers.
The Role
The primary focus of the role is to develop and grow the retail arm of the business through both the physical and online shops. As we are a small business the role will also involve dealing with wholesale customers and assisting in managing the website.
We expect the candidate to bring skills to help us expand our operations online as well as in-store
Hours
· This is a full time to position to include at least two Saturdays a month
· There will be some evening and weekend events which the candidate must be able to assist with as well as assisting in covering holidays (the shop is open 10am-8pm, 7 days per week)
Core Responsibilities
- Increase retail sales
- Managing the day to day running of the physical shop
- Promoting new wines and events to customers through the website, emails, social media and events
- Managing stock levels and updating and feeding information into our software system and website
- Organising, promoting, and running tastings / meet the producer events for both retail and wholesale customers
- Fulfilling online and phone orders
- Some van driving to perform deliveries
- Able to work in our sister business (a hybrid wine bar/shop in Oxford’s Covered Market) when needed
- Assisting in finding and managing wholesale customers

The right candidate must:
- Have experience in Retail or Hospitality
- Have a passion for and knowledge of wine
- Be positive, personable, enthusiastic, proactive and practical, be able to multitask, have great attention to detail and not be afraid of hard work
- Competent at IT including using Excel, and able to quickly learn accounting software and website editing
- Hold WSET level 2 or 3 or have similar experience and an interest in learning more
- Have experience in a customer facing environment
- Display an ability to advise customers on their wine purchases
- Have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team, get on with people and deal with customers in a polite and professional manner
- Be physically fit and mobile. This role will often be working alone, and pallet deliveries may be left outside, so the candidate must be able to quickly and efficiently carry in and check off dozens of cases of wine
- Ideally hold a driving licence and be comfortable driving the company’s small van
What you will get:
Salary between £23,400 - £27,300 dependent on experience.
