Join our dynamic team at Simpsons’ Wine Estate, where we craft award-winning English wines that capture the essence of our iconic chalk terroir in the North Downs of Kent. We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join us as Harvest Cellar Hands for the 2025 vintage.
Role Overview:
As a Harvest Cellar Hand, you’ll be an integral part of our team, involved in various aspects of the winemaking process. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Fruit reception, including press loading and emptying
- Racking and wine transfers
- Ferment inoculations and chaptalisation
- Tank and equipment cleaning
- Cap management: pump-overs & punch-downs
- Ferment monitoring
- Barrel work
- Some involvement in laboratory analysis (OenoFoss)
Key Requirements:
- Own transport is essential due to the rural location of the winery and the possibility of finishing shifts during antisocial hours
- A strong team-working ethos and the ability to adapt quickly to new tasks
- Previous harvest experience, with confidence in undertaking the outlined responsibilities and a reasonable level of fitness
- Analytical and numerate skills, with meticulous attention to detail and hygiene in the work environment
- Forklift licence or experience, and winemaking qualifications are desirable
- Availability from mid-September to mid-November, with a willingness to work extended or antisocial hours as required
- Legally authorized to work in the UK (unfortunately, we do not offer sponsorships)
- Ability to organise your own accommodation and transport
- Comfortable working with the cleaning products used in a winery (necessary protective wear will be provided)
- Own safety boots required
