Exciting opportunity for a WSET 3/Diploma level qualified wine professional to join our maiden store in Wandsworth Town as the assistant manager and shift manager of our friendly local wine bar/wine shop.

You’ll be working alongside fellow wine professionals in a beautiful location on Old York Road and will get to serve and sell a range of 350 exciting new and classic wines. With great wines on tasting each weekend you’ll enjoy educating our locals on the very best wines of the wine world as well as serving some fabulous wines by the glass and bottle from classics like Tignanello and Vega Sicilia to funky Pet Nat’s and Orange wines.

Coolersomm has been established online for a few years now specialising in fine wine sales, wine fridges and wine accessories and you’ll be joining an expanding team and an exciting scale-up wine business in its first offline retail premises.

We are looking for the following attributes or experience:

  • Good and expanding wine knowledge – a passion for wine is essential!
  • A strong sense of commercial awareness and understanding of how a wine retail environment works.
  • At least two years experience in wine service, ideally as a sommelier or wait staff in a busy environment.
  • Strong organisational skills as you’ll be managing a busy wine bar and managing junior staff.
  • Ability to pitch in and be a great team member with tasks relating to opening, closing and running the premises.

You should also have the following:

  • A good knowledge of wine and ideally WSET level 3 or greater plus a willingness to expand your wine horizons and learn about other wine products.
  • Excellent communication skills. Be able to make wine recommendations to clients.
  • Ability to operate without supervision after training. HACCP training also a bonus.

The position is based around a 25-30 hours per week  with a highly competitive hourly rate of £14-19 per hour depending on experience plus service charge (this can top £1k a month during summer months).
