Encompassing buying, product management and administrative support, the position is an incredibly important one within the business. The successful candidate will have a hand in shaping the product range of the retail and wholesale businesses and work with the Retail and Marketing teams to guarantee the commercial success of the portfolio.
ABOUT BOROUGH WINES & BEERS
Established in 2002 on London’s Borough Market, Borough Wines was founded by Muriel Chatel as a platform for the wines being made by her family and friends, in France and beyond.
Fifteen years later, and with the help Corinna Pyke – who came on board as Co-Owner and Marketing Director in 2012 – Borough Wines & Beers (as it is now called) has grown into an award-winning, multi-site wine retail, ecommerce and wholesale business. It was named the Independent Drinks Retailer of the Year (The Drinks Retailing Awards 2018 and The Drinks Business Awards 2018) and the Regional Merchant of the Year London (The International Wine Challenge 2018).

Today, Borough Wines operates nine retail sites and an ecommerce business, selling an international portfolio of wines, beers and spirits, alongside its pioneering wine refills.
Borough Wines bottles and tap products are also available to the on-trade and independent retail sector, through wholesale arm Borough Wines Imports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Buying:
- Source new wines and spirits from UK suppliers according to the needs of the retail business
- Source new wines from overseas according to a brief from the buying team
- Negotiate pricing to satisfy agreed profit margins
- Manage and maintain supplier relationships in the UK and abroad
- Coordinate buying meetings
- Support the Buying Administrator and when required, cover the responsibilities of that role
- Demand forecasting and stock control
Product Management:
- Set up new products across internal systems
- Create and maintain product information, communicating new listings, de-listings and price and vintage changes with relevant teams in the business
- Work closely with the Marketing team, providing key product details when required and assisting with selections for sample requests
- Write product descriptions and tasting notes to be used by all the departments (retail, wholesale, online)

REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Educated to degree level
- Relevant experience within the wine industry
- Extensive wine knowledge
- WSET Level 3
- Good written English
- Strong Excel and IT skills
Desired:
- WSET Diploma
- Experience in a similar role within the wine industry
- Spirits knowledge
